Can we please ask all parents to put suncream on your children before they come to school each morning and provide a sunhat and a bottle of water daily.
There was much excitement this week when our caterpillars turned into butterflies.
Reception children had a faboulous time at Farmer Ted's. Their behaviour was absolutely excellent. You are a credit to your school and your parents, children. Well done!
First of all we would like to thank Councillor Ann Rampling for Reception's Easter eggs.
The children have been busy this week making Easter cards and baskets.
Reception made some wonderful Easter Bonnets. We went to see the Easter Bonnets in year one and two, they were fantastic! Then we went to over to the juniors to look at their marvelous egg creations.
The Solar Eclipse
The children in reception watched the moon cover the sun at 9:30am on 20th March 2015. In order to avoid damage to our eyes we wore special glasses and watched it happen as a reflection in our water tray.
Celebrating Palm Sunday
We talked about Easter Sunday and the importance of Palm Sunday and Good Friday. We made a class butterfly as a symbol of new life. We made Palms out of newspaper and cellotape and sang 'Hosanna' to remember Jesus giving his life so that we might be saved.
Wacky Wonderful World Day
As part of our Lenton Appeal, raising funds for Winston's Wish Charity, we held a Wacky Wonderful World Day. The children could come to school dressed up as a favourite character e.g. Winnie the Witch or Where's Wally etc.. have a wacky hair do or simply wear an article of clothing beginning with the letter W e.g. a wig, watch etc.
World Book Day
Christian Values Week
This week Reception thought about the Christian Values of Love and Friendship. We took part in Messy Church. We made bookmarks for each other to show love for our friends. We talked about what it is to be a good friend and made rosettes for our friends.
Chinese New Year
This week we have been talking about the Chinese New Year. The children have been collage mask making and lantern making. The whole class created a dragon out of junk material and went into the hall to perform a dance. They were also taught and can now say 'Happy New Year' in Chinese.
As part of our current topic - fruit and veg, we have been looking at fruit face pictures in the style of Arcimboldo. We have created our own pictures on the mini laptops and went on to create a picture using materials on the creative table.
Fun in the snow
The children had a great time playing in the snow. We looked at how the snow melted. Harry said 'The snow is melting because it is getting warmer'.
The children tasted a selection of fruits. We made a human bar chart in the playground and created one for our wall in the classroom to show which was their favourite fruit.
