Notices

  • We have P.E. lessons on Monday mornings and Tuesday afternoons.

Please ensure that your child brings their full P.E. kit to school on these days. Remembering to return it to school if your child attends an after school sports club.

  • Reading books - Children have the opportunity to change their home reading book three times a week, usually on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please write a note in the reading diary to let us know how your child is getting on with their reading at home and to inform us when a new book is required.

  • Water bottles - Children may bring a water bottle into class so that they keep hydrated during the day. Please ensure that it is named clearly and is filled with plain water. Juice and flavoured waters are not accepted, in line with our school policy.
We celebrated World Book Day on Friday 4th March. Children in Year 1 made puppets and talked about their favourite stories and book characters. We decorated cakes to look like the bears from Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Y1 World Book Day 2016 - prize winners

Y1 World Book Day 2016 - prize winners 1 Congratulations!

On the 11th February it was Year 1's turn to lead Collective Worship.  Our worship was all about trusting God, especially when we are afraid.

We talked about the things that scare us.  We also reminded everyone about the refugees who are escaping their countries and how afraid they must be; we prayed for them.

On Thursday the Year 1 children walked down to St. Peter's Church to look at the amazing knitted bible stories that were on display. We all enjoyed our visit and recognised lots of the stories from the work that we had done in school.

We have started our Family Album topic work. We have painted some great self portraits, thinking carefully about the colours that we needed for our skin, hair and eyes.

This is our Reflection Area. We can hang a ribbon on the tree to show how we are feeling or to say a special prayer.

Children in Year 1 have been practising their speaking and listening skills during circle time activites. Edward Bear helps us to remember when it is our turn to talk.
