Welcome to the Y6 class page,

Weekly routine:

Monday:

This is the final day for collecting tuck money, for the week ahead. The price for milk and toast is £1.75, each week. If children would like milk only this is £1.15 or toast is 60p, for the week.

Reading Records will be checked, every Monday.

**Don’t forget to have them signed by an adult, each time you read, and if you want to work your way ‘Up’ Paradise Falls, you must read at least four times a week.**

Reading Certificates:

  • 1st commended reader
  • 2nd bronze reader
  • 3rd silver reader
  • 4th gold reader
  • 5th platinum reader
  • 6th superstar reader
  • 7th champion reader
  • 8th world class reader
  • 9th ultimate bookworm

If your child does not read/bring their book into school for two weeks consecutively, a note will be sent home from Mrs Collier.

P.E. is also on a Monday, so make sure that P.E. kits are in school.

Thursday:

Children will change both reading books and library books, on a Thursday. However, if children complete a book before Thursday they can change their books any day during the week.

There is also a P.E. session on Thursday, so please ensure that P.E. kits are in school.

Friday:

Children may begin to bring tuck money into school, in preparation for the following week (please see Monday for prices).

Spellings and times tables will be tested and given out (as part of their homework) for the following week.

Celebration Assembly usually takes place each Friday. If your child has won an award, you will be notified by text prior to the assembly.

Please remember that Y6 is an important year, meaning that homework in: spellings, times tables and reading, is crucial to supporting them in their lessons and revision leading up to SATs.

Thank you for your continued support,

Miss Hilton, Mrs Bardsley and Miss Otty

Our RE Unit was about The Eucharist so Sian came along to deliver a Communion Service especially for Y6.  Many visitors from Church joined us.

Graffiti Revision helped us to realise just how much we know, in Y6.

We had some 'eggsellent' entries for the Easter Egg Competition.

In Upper Key Stage Two, we linked all of our activities to 'Alice in Wonderland'.

Not only did we make cakes, we also became 'Hatters' for the day.

Our Internet Safety talk was very informative (and great fun too).

Our KS2 Christmas Production/Carol Service Y6 actors and actresses:

On day two, the children weren't too impressed with Elfie's idea of a Christmas present: a maths book, wrapped up!

In R.E. we have been learning about the advent wreath and candles and the themes associated with each candle.

We had a great time, in our Let's Sing Practice!

During our Europe Enrichment Week, we looked at Graffiti Art, linked to The Berlin Wall.

The BFG group looked at estimation using measuring equipment this week, in maths...

Y6 had an informative talk with The Fire Service (and lots of fun too).

Why do people choose to go on a religious pilgrimage?

We discussed this with our partners and completed a'diamond 9' activity to show our thinking.
