Year 1 2021 - 2022
Y1 Class teacher
Welcome to Year 1 with Mrs Boswell, Mrs Hobson and Miss Young
Here are a few reminders of some of the routines in Year 1.
Currently our start and finish times are as follows: 8.50 am until 3.15 pm.
We hear the children read every day and reading books are changed frequently. Please listen to your children reading each evening, they will bring home a ReadWrite Inc Book Bag Book which matches where they are up to in the Read Write Inc programme and is decodable, and a second reading book which is to share with you and a class library book for you to read together.
We will release a phonics film each week on Seesaw to support your child with their phonic knowledge so that they can overcome any gaps that they have. This also goes hand in hand with hearing them read frequently at home. Every second Friday we will release a Big Maths paper on Seesaw so that the children can practise different maths questions with you at home that link to the Year 1 learning objectives for maths. To further enhance our curriculum we ask that you have a go at some of the activities linked to the Year 1 Keys to Success tasks at home.
- For the foreseeable future, every Friday, the children will have a P.E lesson. On this day, they may come to school in sports clothing: Their PE top and their school sweatshirt, and either their PE shorts or leggings/jogging bottoms for colder weather (any colour).
- Pumps can be brought and left in school in a labelled PE bag and trainers may be worn on PE days only. This will reduce what is brought into school, and reduce the amount of contact for younger children who need support with changing.
- All belongings should be clearly named.
Toast and milk are available each day. Please make your payments through School Spider.
Your child has access to freshwater each day and their water bottles are cleaned and refilled daily and kept in school.
Please make an appointment via the office if you need to speak to me about anything. I am happy to help and will make arrangements for a telephone phone call/meeting at the earliest convenience. Any urgent messages you may have regarding your child should be passed on via the office, as we are currently trying to minimise contact in order to keep everyone safe.
Thank you for your continued support,
